Let us advocate together for our children.

My name is James Stankus, and I'm committed to making your voice heard on the Pascack Valley Board of Education. Like you, I want to play an active role in making our community, a better place to raise our children, and forge a future filled with unlimited promise.

As a parent and a seasoned educator, please allow me to share with you my observations.  Today, we live in difficult times.  As dedicated parents we are faced with difficult, and unique, issues.  Our children are exposed to the troubles of this world at increasingly younger ages.  Today’s youth are expected to know more, and grow up sooner than we were expected to.  Technology has created an increasingly complex social environment for our children to navigate through.  Our children are living in an age of distraction, uncertainty and increased insecurity.  Unfortunately, in this climate, our children are often tempted to seek advice from outside sources rather than from us.  As an educator I have witnessed how some educational institutions often promote avoiding parental advice.  Some institutions have forgone parental input and advocate making “educational” decisions regarding the ethical and psychological well-being of our children. This loss of parental guidance and authority is why it is so important, now more than ever, to be strong advocates for our children.  If you agree with me on these observations then I ask for your support in the upcoming election.
